Angus Heritage Week 2012

2012-09-07

Angus is home to many heritage and cultural venues and a pilot Angus Heritage Week will take place this year, from the 7th - 14th September. This new event is being planned in association with the annual Doors Open Days which provides free access to a variety of unusual and interesting buildings throughout Angus, some of which are normally closed to the public. The purpose of 'Angus Heritage Week' is to promote the unique built, cultural and natural heritage of Angus to both the local community and visitors to the area.

Over 40 events including a genealogy fair, guided kirkyard tours, historical walks, traditional music, talks and storytelling, art exhibitions and much more are currently planned and will be featured in an event programme and online. The event programme will be distributed locally and to accommodation providers and visitor attractions within a 90 minute drive of Angus. A fun 'Passport' will also be produced for visitors during the week, featuring special offers; competitions and prizes; quizzes; interesting facts.

A new website www.AngusHeritage.com was launched in July 2012 to promote the unique heritage on offer in Angus and will also feature full details of all of the events taking place during the first Angus Heritage Week. Facebook will also be used to promote the event as well as any special offers included in the passport. Keep up to date with news and events and like Angus Heritage on facebook.
